Reports reaching SikaTimes.com suggest that armed and masked police officers stormed the residence of former NPP Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser, Moses Abor, in Accra on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
A video circulating on social media shows police officers entering a home believed to be Abor’s. Though details remain sketchy, sources indicate the security team was allegedly searching for Kwame Baffoe Abronye, popularly known as Abronye DC, the Bono Regional NPP Chairman. The reason for his reported “wanted” status remains unclear.
This development comes just days after Abronye DC formally applied for political asylum, claiming persistent intimidation and harassment by state security agencies under the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
In his petition dated September 5, 2025, Abronye alleged he was the first opposition politician detained by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) after criticising the government over the dismissal of thousands of workers. He further claimed he had received direct threats from persons identifying as police officers, warning he would be “dealt with mercilessly” or “may not return alive” if he continued his criticism of the government.
According to documents filed with several embassies and international bodies, including the UNHCR and the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Ghana, Abronye has invoked protections under the 1951 Refugee Convention and related international protocols.
As of now, neither the Ghana Police Service nor the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued an official statement regarding the reported raid.
SikaTimes.com will continue to monitor this developing story and provide updates as more details emerge.
