The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been granted bail by the court in the sum of GH¢50,000 with one surety, without justification.

His lead counsel, Daniel Mantey Addo, confirmed the development, stating that Abronye’s health condition had deteriorated while in custody.
“News of the bail has brought him some relief,” he said.

According to a report by myjoyonline.com, Abronye’s lawyers are currently working to meet the bail conditions to secure his immediate release.

The outspoken NPP chairman was arrested on September 8, 2025, and charged with offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace.

Police explained that his arrest stemmed from public comments he made, including allegations against the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

Prior to his arrest, Abronye had filed applications for political asylum in eight countries: Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, and Germany.

In his application, he cited political persecution, threats to his life, and systemic misuse of state security powers by the current government as reasons for seeking protection abroad.
