The National Commission for Civic Education NCCE in the Fanteakwa North District engaged about thirty schools during their Annual Citizenship Week Celebration. The theme was “Ghana’s Future: The role of the Ghanaian Child”. The Celebration started from May 26 to June 16th.
Speaking to the media, Ms Cynthia Essel, NCCE District Director, said children are the centre of nation-building. As children grow in the environment, they learn civic values, responsibility and national pride. A person’s choice affects the future. It is the duty of children to uphold truth, resist malpractice and act with integrity always to contribute meaningfully in our country.
An empowered child is one who understands peace, takes proper care of the environment he or she lives in. Such an individual has personal integrity, honesty, unity and democratic participation. The office with the school authority, teachers and students planted some trees in the school.
